Second ‘Clean Up the East End Day’ Scheduled
WATERBURY- State Representative Selim Noujaim (R-Waterbury) has
announced that a second annual ‘Clean Up the east End Day has been
scheduled for Patriot Day, September 11, 2004, at 9:00 am at Hamilton
Park. Once again, area residents will come together to clean up and
beautify the East End community. Volunteers are asked to meet at the
corner of East Main Street and Idylwood Avenue. They will branch out and
pick up debris from that location. A picnic lunch of hotdogs and
hamburgers will be provided afterward.
“Last year our clean up effort was a tremendous success,” said
Noujaim. “The community really pulled together and did a fantastic job
beatifying the neighborhoods. This year, we are keeping in the spirit of
Patriot Day, and President Bush’s message that we should turn the date
of September 11th into something positive for our communities. I hope
to see an even larger number of families, friends and neighbors turn out
to show pride and dedication to the community they live in this year.”
All interested East End area residents that are interested in
volunteering are encouraged to call Representative Noujaim at 591-9190.
Noujaim noted that residents who are unable to turn out for the clean up
effort are still welcome at the picnic that will follow. This year’s ‘Clean
Up the East End Day’ is being co-sponsored by the Park and Recreation
Commission, and the Department of Community Development.
