Sanders Appointed to Early Childhood
Committee
Minority Leader Makes Appointment on
Noujaim Recommendation
HARTFORD- House Minority Leader Robert M. Ward (R-North Branford) has
appointed Dr. Patricia Sanders of Branford to the Early Childhood
Committee. Dr. Sanders currently serves as Vice President for Academic
Affairs and professor of Management at Post University in Waterbury.
Representative Selim Noujaim (R-74th District) recommended Dr.
Sanders for the appointment.
“I am pleased that Representative Ward has made this
important appointment,” said Representative Noujaim. “I know that Dr. Sanders’ talents and expertise will make
her a quality addition to this panel, and she will certainly enhance the
quality of the work they do with her broad experience and rich
background.”
The Early Childhood Committee was created by Public Act
05-245 to promote the professionalization of the early childhood education
workforce. The committee is
charged with identifying existing systems and programs that lead to two
and four-year degrees in early childhood education or child development.
They will also review and assess the accessibility of these
programs, and make recommendations for improvement..
Prior to her current position, Dr. Sanders served as
Dean of Business at Siena College in Albany, NY, where she managed a
faculty of 45 full-time members and about 50 part-time members delivering
programs through five departments. During
her tenure as dean, Dr. Sanders gained a reputation for creating
innovative programs and initiatives. Some examples of which include
the establishment of a family business institute, entrepreneurship
awareness education for inner city youth, a high school teacher
certification program, and the development and implementation of an MBA
program in accounting. For her leadership efforts, Dr Sanders was recognized as
“Manager of the Year” (1998), an annual award sponsored by the Albany-Colonie
Regional Chamber of Commerce.
