Sanders Appointed to Early Childhood Committee

Minority Leader Makes Appointment on Noujaim Recommendation

HARTFORD- House Minority Leader Robert M. Ward (R-North Branford) has appointed Dr. Patricia Sanders of Branford to the Early Childhood Committee. Dr. Sanders currently serves as Vice President for Academic Affairs and professor of Management at Post University in Waterbury.  Representative Selim Noujaim (R-74th District) recommended Dr. Sanders for the appointment.

“I am pleased that Representative Ward has made this important appointment,” said Representative Noujaim.  “I know that Dr. Sanders’ talents and expertise will make her a quality addition to this panel, and she will certainly enhance the quality of the work they do with her broad experience and rich background.”

The Early Childhood Committee was created by Public Act 05-245 to promote the professionalization of the early childhood education workforce.  The committee is charged with identifying existing systems and programs that lead to two and four-year degrees in early childhood education or child development.  They will also review and assess the accessibility of these programs, and make recommendations for improvement..

Prior to her current position, Dr. Sanders served as Dean of Business at Siena College in Albany, NY, where she managed a faculty of 45 full-time members and about 50 part-time members delivering programs through five departments.  During her tenure as dean, Dr. Sanders gained a reputation for creating innovative programs and initiatives.  Some examples of which include the establishment of a family business institute, entrepreneurship awareness education for inner city youth, a high school teacher certification program, and the development and implementation of an MBA program in accounting.  For her leadership efforts, Dr Sanders was recognized as “Manager of the Year” (1998), an annual award sponsored by the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce.
