Waterbury Legislator Voted Into House Leadership
HARTFORD- State Representative
Selim Noujaim (R-Waterbury) was today elected as an Assistant Republican Leader
by the Republican caucus of the State House of Representatives. Noujaim, who
was elected to his third full term in the House on November 7th, was
chosen by incoming House Republican Leader Lawrence Cafero, Jr. of Norwalk for the post. The membership ratified the nomination in a closed-door meeting in
the legislative Office Building in Hartford.
As an Assistant Leader, Noujaim will play a pivotal
role in helping craft the Republican caucus’s agenda for the upcoming legislative
session which begins January 3rd, 2007. He will also work as a
member of the leadership team in working to see critical legislation developed
and enacted.
“Since his arrival in the legislature after a special
election victory in 2002, Representative Noujaim has shown himself to be a
quick study of the legislative process, and a capable and experienced voice for
the people of his district,” said Cafero. “I am very proud to have Selim
become a part of the Republican leadership team. I will certainly be counting
on his experience and energy, which he always dedicates to the service of the
people of Waterbury and Connecticut.”

support from our new leader and the Republican caucus,” said Noujaim. “I look forward
to the unique challenges that we will face in the new term of the legislature,
and am confident that we will be able to effective advocates for the people of Connecticut.”
Representative
Noujaim was first elected to the legislature in a special election in 2002. He
is executive vice-president of the family-founded and operated Noujaim Tool
Company, Inc. in Oakville, Connecticut. He served as Ranking Member on the
Commerce Committee during the 2005-07 term.
