Grant
Will Help Fund Badly-Needed Renovations and Upgrades
A
$62,763 grant that will help fund badly-needed renovations and improvements to
the Waterbury Association for Retarded Citizens’ (WARC) facility on East Main Street was approved today by the State Bond Commission, state Representative Selim
G. Noujaim, R-Waterbury, said today.
The
bond commission approved on the grant at its meeting today at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
“I
have always been committed to supporting WARC and the critical services it
provides to the mentally challenged,” said Representative Noujaim, who has
served on the organization’s Board of Directors. “I know first-hand that their
building needs to be renovated and upgraded to enhance security and safety for
the less fortunate citizens it serves. WARC provides a variety of essential
services that cannot be duplicated elsewhere in the community. I’d like to
thank Governor Rell and the Bond Commission for their support for this
project.”
The
project includes repairs to the building’s roof, the replacement of windows and
flooring, and resurfacing of the facility’s parking lot, Representative Noujaim
said.
